I absolutely agree with you, Sam. By no means am I a fan of Joe Biden as a candidate, and I wrote in the piece that I felt that he would be using Stacey Abrams as a shield and, as Van Jones put it, a “diversity jacket.” It’s an interesting thought purely from a political horse race perspective, but it would amount to Biden admitting that he cannot win without Abrams. He is the “front-runner” in name only, and this would be an attempt, as you said, to circumvent the competitive primary process. It could achieve what he wants, or it could also backfire dramatically. From Stacey Abrams’s perspective, she would indeed be risking a lot on someone that is far from a surefire bet.
